Gandhinagar, Friday: A press conference on Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2019 VGGS 2019 was led by JN Singh Chief Secretary of Gujarat Government in Gandhinagar along with other state officers.
Secretary Singh during his media interaction talked on success rate of Vibrant Gujarat, pronounced a few top investors, how Gujarat has emerged a s leader state , lowest unemployment rate in the state and invitation to Pakistan by Global Summit. Singh also briefed about PM Narendra Modi’s arrival plan for Vibrant Gujarat.
Gujarat is gearing up for its flagship global summit – Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2019. While the previous edition of the Summit – Vibrant Gujarat 2017 – was internationally acclaimed for the overwhelming response it got from the global audience, all eyes are turned towards the latest edition of this mega business conclave, which pulls in the who’s who of the business community, heads of states, policy makers from across the world to Gujarat. Vibrant Gujarat 2019 promises a whole new format for its audience this year with new events that have never been held before.
This Summit is aligned with Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision for a New India, and is being organized with the theme of ‘Shaping a New India’. Heads of State from 5 countries including, Denmark, Czech Republic, Uzbekistan, Malta and Rwanda will attend the global summit and will be hosted by the Prime Minister over dinner on the 18th of January. 15 countries have officially come on board as partner countries for the 9th edition of the summit. They include Australia, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Japan, Morocco, Norway, Poland, South Africa, Republic of Korea, Thailand, The Netherlands, UAE and Uzbekistan.
In addition, a total of 11 international organisations including the Australia India Business Council, Canada India Foundation, Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council, Indo-China Chamber of Commerce, International Finance Corporation, Japan External Trade Organisation, Korea Trade Investment Promotion Agency, the Netherlands India Chamber of Commerce and Trade, UAE-India Business Council, US-India Business Council and US-India Strategic Partnership Forum will be partner organisations for the Summit.
Country Seminars:
As many as 22 countries will be represented at the event with their own seminars and pavilions. Countries such as Germany, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Denmark, Netherlands, and Australia will hold seminars that will present their individual strengths and areas of interest. The country seminars will present an excellent opportunity for Indian delegates to hear from and interact with their foreign counterparts and explore areas of mutual interest regarding industrial development, trade and technology transfers. Japanese, American, German and other European companies have shown keen interest in sharing advancement in manufacturing technology with Indian companies working in the sector.
State Seminars:
Confirming its status as India’s premier investment summit, the upcoming Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit will see 8 States holding their own seminars presenting investment opportunities in their respective states. Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Odisha and Punjab will hold special seminars showcasing the strengths and investment potential in their respective states. The Government of Gujarat has always maintained that while the Vibrant Gujarat Summits may have started as a means to project Gujarat as an investment destination for Global investors, over time it has evolved to become a pan-India platform that is made available to all Indian States. This is reflected in the numbers that show a significant increase in States’ participation. 4 States took part in the 2017 edition of the global summit and that number has already doubled for the latest edition. The theme of ‘Shaping a New India’ too echoes the pan-India sentiment of the investment summit.
Exclusive Roundtable with the PM for Global Wealth Funds:
The 9th edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit will see the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, for the first time, hold an exclusive roundtable interaction with the heads of Sovereign Wealth Funds, Pension Funds and Institutional Investors. The aim of the session is to get these funds to become integral part of investment for the state and the country’s infrastructure needs.
This exclusive roundtable interaction will provide a platform for detailed deliberations between Heads of Global Funds with the Hon’ble Prime Minister, the Hon’ble Finance Minister and the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat along with other important government dignitaries on opportunities in India and Gujarat.
Gujarat – Sprint 2022:
A first-of-its-kind, exclusive event – ‘Gujarat’s Sprint to 2022’ will aim to showcase the Hon’ble Chief Minister’s vision for advancing Gujarat’s position beyond the premier investment destination it is known to be. The objective of this event is to showcase the potential of the state as the perfect destination for an ideal life with its well developed physical and social infrastructure, political stability, holistic educational, medical facilities, opportunities for employment and robust connectivity. The event will offer an opportunity for the audience to hear the Hon’ble Chief Minister’s vision for Gujarat through 2022 and beyond.
Besides showcasing Gujarat’s transformation through futuristic physical and social infrastructure by the year 2022, the event will highlight Gujarat’s calibre at providing a higher quality of life to its citizens and to those who have migrated here for work or higher education. The event will be organized on 19th January 2019 at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar and will provide a sneak peek into the investment opportunities opening up in Gujarat and provide an opportunity to delegates to meet global corporate leaders and strategy makers for jointly investing in Gujarat.
Africa Day:
A dedicated ‘Africa Day’ event is being organized on 19th of January to provide a unique platform to discuss the opportunities for strategic partnerships, trade and investments and to further enhance bilateral trade relations between India and Africa. Special seminars will be held to showcase investment opportunities for Indian investors in African countries.
An important topic will focus on immense potential of medical tourism that Gujarat provides to Africa. Gujarat has an excellent tertiary care and world-class hospital facilities which are affordable and not beyond reach. Additionally, an exclusive Africa Pavilion with an area of 2,200 sq.m. will be set up in the Exhibition Area for African and Indian companies to showcase products and services of mutual interest. More than 40 out of the 54 African nations have already confirmed their participation and several countries are still expected to join in the coming days. On India’s end, major companies such as Suzlon, Vedanta, Godrej, Zydus and Reliance etc. are expected to participate.
Ahmedabad Shopping Festival: (17th to 28th January)
Taking inspiration from the Dubai shopping festival and in an effort to boost the retail sector in Ahmedabad, a shopping festival will be held in Ahmedabad from the 17th to the 28th of January. The shopping festival will enable local retailers showcase their products and also benefit through the thousands of visitors that will be visiting the city during the Vibrant Gujarat Summit from across the world. The festival will be open for retailers across the city, from branded retailers to handicraft artisans. The shopping festival will also showcase art and crafts, and host entertainment programmes showcasing films and theatre along with a food festival and a flea market, bringing a festive atmosphere during the kite festival that is enthusiastically celebrated across the city in January.
MSME Convention:
On the 19th of January, the Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Vijay Rupani along with Minister of State (Independent Charge) for MSME in the Government of India Shri Giriraj Singh will inaugurate the MSME Convention. The MSME convention will hold technical sessions for participants from the MSME sectors, where they will hear experts speak on topics such as Design Technology & Management, Credit & Finance and Marketing & Positioning in Global Value Chains. Partipants from the MSME sector will also benefit from the Vendor Development Program which will be a part of the MSME Convention. The Vendor Development Program will be a platform for all the stakeholders to interact, tie-up and collaborate.
Over the years, each edition of the summit is bigger and better than the previous one. On the quantitative side, the numbers are always increasing in every parameter, be it participation, number and size of MoUs or partner countries.
