Today in Vadodara district, more than 700 houses were demolished by VMC Vadodara Municipal Corporation creating a new record. In Chhani area, 100 houses were demolished in which one woman was killed. At Bhim Talav, there was an incident of stone throwing and setting fire during demolition of 450 houses. In Shivajipuri area, 218 houses were demolished by VMC.
In demolition by VMC, 12 bulldozers and 60 teams have been made operational. Police force was used for security of demolition teams and operation was carried amid tight security. The operation starts from early morning with a notice to seva sadan about removing of illegal encroachment on land. Most residents had vacated their houses which made demolition easy. VMC Commissioner HS Patel and officials were present at demolition site.
