UGC-NET examination cancelled; probe handed over to CBI

The Centre on Wednesday announced cancellation of competitive the UGC-NET examination following prima facie indications that integrity of exam compromised. To make sure the highest level of transparency and sanctity of the examination process, the Ministry of Education, Government of India has decided that the UGC-NET June 2024 Examination be cancelled according to a statement from the central education ministry. The exam was scheduled on June 18.

A fresh examination shall be conducted, for which information shall be shared subsequently. Also, the matter is being handed over to the investigating agency CBI Central Bureau of Investigation for thorough probe in the matter said ministry.

UGC University Grants Commission-NET test determines eligibility of Indian nationals for ‘award of Junior Research Fellowship and appointment as Assistant Professor’, ‘appointment as Assistant Professor and admission to Ph.D.’ and ‘admission to Ph.D. only’ in Indian universities and colleges.
