Recently Bollywood actor Sohum Shah visited Ahmedabad. Tumbbad film with lead role by Sohum has gained him much attention at the prestigious Venice Film Festival’s Critics’ Week.
Sohum talks about his journey from Dhoti to Red Carpet as he hails from a small village in Rajasthan. Playing Vinayak involved him learning how to get the Marathi accents right, which was very tough since he comes from Rajasthan, and had to tone down his original accents.
He talked of how for each of the scenes director and crew members worked very hard. entire movie was shooted in a rain. Mud was applied, removed again appled recalls actor.
Actor said as a special preparation he had to tone up his body suiting to the role, for which he did workout for about 4 hours a day. His director Anand L Rai wanted a particular type of body in the movie.
Actor admits that toning up body was easier than learning Marathi accents.
Irfaan Khan is his role model.
In a message to upcoming youngsters trying their hand in Bollywood said that, do not come to Bollywood with a short term plan like 6 months, 1 or 2 years, it could take years to settle down or even a decade. Come to Bollywood only if you have passion for it.
He is doing his next movie by Feb or March 2019.
The film was released in India in Hindi, Marathi, Tamil and Telugu languages.
