Gandhinagar, September 09, 2024: Swarrnim Startup & Innovation University, through its Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department at Aarihant Ayurvedic Medical College & Research Institute, conducted a Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Programme at AK Patel High School situated in Jaspur village of Ahmedabad district. The event saw participation from some 60 students from classes 6-10 of AK Patel High School.
The program was led by Dr Naveen Banarse, Principal of the institute, and coordinated by Dr Rachana Yadav, Consultant and Assistant Professor in the department. The two faculty members educated young girls about the importance of menstrual hygiene, breaking the silence and taboos that often surround the issue. The session included a Dhantwantari Vandana, followed by a lecture on safe and healthy menstrual hygiene practices.
The idea behind the initiative was to impart proper knowledge and understanding about menstrual hygiene and prevent health-related complications as well as do away with the stigma associated with menstruation.
By promoting eco-friendly menstrual products, the program also encouraged sustainable menstruation practices among young girls. It also enabled them to participate fully in education, work, and social activities without restriction.
Such programmes are organised by Swarrnim Startup and Innovation University, with a view to promote gender equality by addressing gender-based discrimination and social exclusion, supporting education and economic opportunities, and enhancing overall well-being.
