Today SMC Surat Municipal Corporation’s Rs 5638 crores of draft budget for the financial year 2017-18 was present by the SMC Commissioner.
Budget focused on Smart City development and Infrastructural development with no change in tax structure and user taxes.
In Rs 5360 crores budget, Rs 278 crores have been allotted for Smart City development. An outcome based budget of Rs 1442 crores for 432 works have been earmarked. Allocations for phase 1 Metro Rail on 40 km stretch connecting 38 stations. For Mass Transportation High Mobility Corridor over a passage of 42 kms have been identified. Development of 6 multi level car parking. Cycling Highway between a passage from SVNIT college to Dumas. On Tapi river 2 over bridge and 5 flyovers and bridges over creek.
Rs 240 crores allotted for canal road development. Rs 492 crores allotted for town planning. Rs 112 crores for BRTS corridor. Plan to procure 800 city bus. Rs 10.50 crores for new SMC complex. Rs 6.50 crores for metro rail feasibility study. Rs 2 crores for city square development. SMC run garden to be revamped with green garden theme.
An estimate of Rs 1047 crores income through taxes have been made.
