Article by Darshana Jamindar

former Supreme Court judge Justice Markandey Katju and  Chairman of Press Council of India has made serious allegations of corruption which has shaken judiciary system.  Katju while making allegation on Ex CJI Justice RC Lahoti has said that he had taken leniante view by allowing a corrupt judge despite of adverse IB report against that peron. However, Lahoti says that I have never done anything wrong in my life. Everything is a matter of record. Whatever I have done or not done is all on record with reasons. I have never done anything wrong in my life.

Congress leader Rashid Alvi refuted Katju’s allegations on Lahoti. “Katju likes to be in news. If there were charges against Lahoti then he should have spoken that time why he is speaking now,” he said.Another Congress leader Veerappa Moily said, “If Katju was really concerned about the issue, he should have protested that time. It’s too late now.”

Katju further said that during UPA time and DMK in Tamil Nadu one acting Chief Justice of the Madras High Court, by a single stroke of his pen, deleted all those adverse entries and consequently he became an Additional Judge of the High Court. He has said that the corrupt judge had the support of a very important political leader of Tamil Nadu.
