Ahmedabad, March 26, 2022: Seven Infants from 2 months to 15 years of age in Gujarat have been successfully Liver Transplanted by Chennai’s Rela Hospital. These infants were diagnosed with complex diseases such as Wilson’s Disease, Acute Liver Failure, Glycogen Storage Disorder and Biliary Atresia Feel Kasai.
The infants were transplanted by an expert team led by Dr Naresh Shanmugam, Director – Women and Child Health Senior Consultant – Pediatric Gastroenterology and Hepatology of Rela Hospital. Infants parents themselves were donors for Liver transplant. The babies were initially treated at the Kimaaya Kidz Liver and Gastro Care Clinic an Outreach Clinic Center in Ahmedabad. After diagnosis by Dr. Naresh Shanmugam and Dr. Kinisha Patel infants at Kimaaya Kidz Liver and Gastro Care Clinic, due to health problems found in them, they were referred to Rela Hospital in Chennai for Liver Transplant, where Liver Transplant was the only option to save their life.
