Health Minister giving details of the meeting held under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister regarding the current situation of Covid-19.
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel presided over high level meeting of senior secretaries in the state including Health Minister Hrishikesh Patel, Minister of State for Home Affairs Harsh Sanghvi and Chief Secretary Pankaj Kumar, Chief Secretary to Chief Minister , Kailasanathan, Additional Chief Secretary of Home Department Rajkumar were there.
Giving details about the meeting, Health Minister Hrishikesh Patel told media that the implementation of Corona Transition Control SOP, including current night curfew in 8 metros of state, has been extended till January 7.
He made it clear that from January 1, 2022, visitors to state offices would be admitted only on the basis of confirmation and certificate that they have been vaccinated with double dose.
The Minister said that state government has so far arranged a total of 110,000 beds to meet the possible third wave of corona in Gujarat. In which 15,900 ICUs. While 7,800 ventilator beds are available. While 10 to 20 percent beds and about 1,000 ventilators have been made available in all Covid hospitals for children. Apart from this, new / temporary 500-1500 bed Covid-hospitals will be set up in districts and cities depending on need and emergency response centers will be set up in Covid-hospitals as well as adequate supply of Coronavirus related medicines is available in the state, minister added.
The Minister said that From 3rd to 9th January, 2022, as part of a special mega drive, children in age group of 15-18 years will be vaccinated with Covid-19 vaccine. More than 35 lakh children in the state will be vaccinated in campaign. For this, in entire state, Separate sessions for vaccination will be conducted in schools and other places where there are beneficiaries of this age group starting from January 3rd, 2022.
The Minister added that, Children will be covered by Mega drive at all schools and other institutions across the state on January 7th, 2022 and for children not going to school. Children will be vaccinated on 8th and 9th January, 2022 at a convenient time. For this, Online registration in Covin Portal from 1st January, 2022 and online registration on. Starting from 3rd January, 2022.
In addition, Precautionary doses will be given to healthcare workers, front line workers and Comorbid beneficiaries above 60 years of age across the country from January 10, 2022. Comorbid beneficiaries above 60 years of age can get vaccine as per advice of their doctor, for which they do not have to produce any kind of medical certificate. The group consisted of 6,24,092 health care workers, 13,44,533 front line workers and approximately 14,24,600 comorbid beneficiaries over age of 60 years.
Beneficiaries who have completed 9 months (39 weeks) of second dose of Covid-19 vaccine will be given Precautionary dose. The Precautionary doses will also be noted in the Covid vaccination certificate available from the Covin portal. The eligible beneficiary will also be informed through SMS for precautionary dose.
Health Minister Patel added that all the cases of Omicron variant registered under COVID-19 in state are showing mild symptoms. They are being treated as part of precautionary measures. The only reason for this is due to vaccination campaign carried out in Gujarat and the citizens are protected. He added that considering the current situation in Corona, from 01-12-2021 till 30-12-2021, 18,96,458 rapid and RTPCR tests have been conducted.
Giving details of Corona vaccination in Gujarat, Minister said that, As on December 29, 2021, first dose was given to 468,06,170 (94.9%) beneficiaries in the state and second dose was given to 4,22,21,731( 94 % of eligible and 85.6% of total population) beneficiaries with a total of 8.90 crore More vaccine doses have been given. 9,02,746 Beneficiaries of two doses per ten lakh in state have been given doses ofin which Gujarat is one of the leading states in the country.
