Prevailing southwest monsoon got weakened over Gujarat state and is expected to shift towards Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Andhra Pradesh, as per national weather agency IMD Indian Meteorological Department data. In absence of any strong system like favourable winds, cyclonic circulation, or dense clouds along coastal region, there will be scattered showers amid atmosphere of scorching heat felt throughout the state. Today Light to heavy showers were recorded in a few places of Gujarat mainly in Saurashtra region including Rajkot, Shapar, Veraval, Valsad, and Limbdi. Heavy showers poured in Rajkot in several areas, including Junction Plot, Sindhi Colony, Jamnagar Road, and Ghanteshwar, while most areas, including University Road and Kalavad Road, remained dry. Scattered showers were felt in Ranpur of Botad. Valsad recorded the highest rainfall of 16 mm, followed by Limbdi with 6 mm. Showers were experienced in Kaprada, Vapi, and Bardoli. Due to the lack of rain in most parts of the state, temperature remained high. Today, the highest temperature was recorded at 41.9°C in Vallabh Vidyanagar, followed by 41.5°C in Ahmedabad and Surendranagar. Temperature of Gandhinagar and Rajkot exceeded 41°C. In Amreli, temperature was 40.4 °C, and in rest of Saurashtra, including the entire Kutch and South Gujarat, it remained under 40°C. IMD has issued a warning of thundershowers in parts of South Gujarat for Surat, Navsari, and Valsad, and coastal region of Saurashtra around Amreli and Bhavnagar. Light to moderate rain in next few days is predicted according to weather data for regions aound Banaskantha, Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Dahod, Chhotaudepur, Narmada, Surat, Dang, Tapi, Navsari, Valsad, Daman, Dadra Nagar Haveli, Surendranagar, Amreli, Bhavnagar, and Botad.
