Second Edition of World Peace Rally Successfully Returns to Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad

Peace Ambassadors Travelled from Ahmedabad to Amritsar to Kartarpur Corridor, Vaishnodevi, Kargil, Leh and Manali to spread message of peace

Ahmedabad, July 21, 2022: The second edition of the World Peace Rally organised by Shree Sai Women and Children’s Welfare Trust and Roti Bank, Ahmedabad, not-for-profit organisations based in Ahmedabad, successfully returned to Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad on Wednesday – July 20. Five disabled servicemen joined the rally as Peace Ambassadors in Ahmedabad and five more from Amritsar.

To send out a message of peace globally, the second edition of World Peace Rally 2022 was flagged off from Gandhi Ashram in Ahmedabad on July 1, 2022. Shri Narhari Amin, Senior BJP Leader and Member of Parliament, along with Shri Somabhai Modi, Managing Trustee of Sarvodaya Seva Trust and Mr Himanshu Pandya, Vice Chancellor, Gujarat University, flagged off the rally. The rally saw 10 disabled (on duty) servicemen as Peace Ambassadors from the DefenceForces, Paramilitary Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies who travelled by road from Ahmedabad to Leh, Ladakh via Kartarpur in Pakistan and Wagah Border in Punjab, India.

“We reached the Golden Temple in Amritsar and later visited the Jallianwala Baugh, wherein we paid homage to the deceased and prayed for peace in the world. Then we moved to the Kartarpur Corridor and later went to Vaishnodevi and wherever we went, we spread the message of peace and gave the World Peace Rally (WPR) bands to people,” said Shri BM Sood, Managing Trustee, Shree Sai Women and Children’s Welfare Trust and Roti Bank, Ahmedabad.

“We moved on to Kargil and visited the Shahid Sthal there. Our members and participants conducted a tree plantation at the Kargil campus and we set up and inaugurated a Gandhi Centre and also a Gandhi Library, as an epitome of peace,” Shri Sood added.

With the help of the organisation, peace ambassadors also set up a Gandhi Centre at the Gujarat Bhawan in Leh University. The trust also donated books on Gandhi.

The participants visited Pangong Lake and later returned to Leh and then moved to Sarchu and Manali, wherein two more programmes of world peace were also held. On their return journey towards Ahmedabad, when the World Peace Rally reached Chandigarh, it was received by Additional Director General of Chandigarh Police and IG Rajesh Jaiswal and the DIG as well. The rally was later flagged off by Additional DG – Traffic, AS Rai. The rally was successfully concluded after completing 5,000 kms journey in 20 days and the entire team has safely returned to Gandhi Ashram today.
