Today in Ahmedabad, Gujarat State Election Commission (SEC) informed to that the Gujarat High Court that it can complete the election process of local body polls in the Gujarat by December 25. The court has kept hearing a petition in this regard has on October 21 for hearing. Later the SEC counsel lawyer said that in his affidavit he has only informed the court about holding the election by Dec 25.’We have not given any tentative schedule of election or any date regarding issue of notification because it is the prerogative of the election commission to decide such schedule,’ he said.Earlier the SEC had noitified on October 4, hours after an ordinance empowering it to postpone the local polls due to law and order situation the polls for 6 municipal corporations, 31 district panchayats, 56 municipalities and 230 taluka panchayats in the Gujaart, due in October-November, were postponed by 3 months.
