Based on Crime Reporter Jigna Vora of Mumbai and story Behind Bars in Byculla: My Days in Prison, Scoop Web Series launched on Netflix OTT platform from June 2. The Scoop directed by Hansal Mehta, features Karishma Tanna, Harman Baweja, Mohammed Zeeshan and Harman Baweja in lead roles.
Scoop is a plot on journalism influenced by Gangsters. Mehta is known for storytelling of true events, without compromising on the integrity of the story.
The web series features Karishma Tanna as an aspiring lady crime reporter, Jagruti. She is no stranger to the hustle, and is constantly looking for that BIG news, even when she is on a family holiday. Until that ride for a big scoop, lands her in soup. What happens when another ace crime reporter (played by Prosenjit Chatterjee) is shot dead in daylight and the entire episode is maneuvered to look like an act of jealousy? the series intricate details of the 2011 case which left the entire nation shocked.
Based on Vora’s memoir Behind Bars in Byculla: My Days in Prison, the story divided into six episodes takes us through the state of crime reporting and safety of crime reporters in the country. With the case as the background, Mehta also explores the newsroom dilemma and implores the clinical treatment by the system behind such crimes.
Starcast including Karishma Tanna, Deven Bhojani , director Hansal Mehta and former reporter Jigna interacted with media in Ahmedabad at a press conference. Director Mehta shared his viewpoint of film making and how he was influenced with agony of Jigna Vora’s episode of 2011. He wanted to show reality of the entire episode. Karishma talked on interesting facts about her role and challenges. She said that it is a must watch movie for girls. Jigna was a very strong woman which inspired Karishma to do this role.
Jigna also interacted with Ahmedabad media and made it clear that she donot want to return to media.
