‘Saputara Megh Malhar Parva-2024’ to be launched by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel at Saputara Inauguration of ‘Monsoon Festival’ on July 29 stated Gujarat Tourism Minister Mulubhai Bera

With an aim of further promoting local employment along with tourism at Saputara, the only hill station of Gujarat, state Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel will inaugurate ‘Saputara Megh Malhar Parva 2024’ on July 29 at 9.00 am.
State Tourism Minister Mulubhai said that Monsoon Festival, has been celebrated in Gujarat since 2009, is going to be inaugurated by Chief Minister for the first time this year, there is a lot of enthusiasm among the local people about it. Minister gave more details about the Monsoon Festival and said that like every year this year also, Gujarat Tourism Corporation has organized a festival in the monsoon season. Monsoon festival is going to be grandly organized at Saputara for one month from July 29 to August 28, 2024. Dated at Boat House Ground, Saputara. The program will begin with a colorful parade in front of the Tourism Corporation’s Toran Hotel at the inauguration ceremony on July 29. In which local musical instruments of Dang, entertaining characters, characters in different costumes, Dangi tribal dance and various activities will be presented. After the colorful parade, chief guest will arrive at the dome prepared near the Gan Saputara lake where a cultural program is planned. At the end of the program, CM will flag off the ‘Rain Run Marathon’ near Saputara Circle.
In addition, various cultural programs will be organized at the main dome taking advantage of public holidays of Fri-Sat-Sun. In the evening programs will be held at Saputara Main Circle and Governor’s Hill in order to familiarize tourists with local culture of Dang and also provide more employment to local artists.
Along with this event, a special Dahi-Handi program has also been grandly organized on Janmashtami minister added. During the monsoon festival, tourists will get to enjoy around 18 major attractions in the vicinity, including Eco Tourism Camp Site-Mahal, Aquarium, Eco Point, Gandharvapur Artist Village, Gira Falls, Governor’s Hill, Hathgarh Fort, Honey Bee Centre, Museums, including Nageswara Mahadev Temple, Purna Sanctuary, Rose Garden, Saputara Lake, Saputara Tribal Museum, Step Garden, Sunrise Point, Sunset Point and the famous Vasanda National Park.
Also, paper craft workshops and archery practice sessions, worli arts, handicrafts and photography exhibitions will also attract tourists. Tourism Minister said, Saputara’s pleasant environment and natural beauty has always been the first choice of tourists.
As a result of the monsoon festival organized by State Government Tourism Corporation, the number of tourists coming here is gradually increasing. Total 11.13 lakh tourists visited Saputara throughout the year, including approximately 8.16 lakh during year 2022 and over 2.44 lakh during the Saputara Festival in 2023.
Thus the influx of tourists to the Saputara Festival has resulted in increased sources of income along with employment in Dang and its surrounding areas thus improving the standard of living. The Tourism Minister said that Saputara, alsoknown as ‘Cherapunji’ of Gujarat, receives an average of 255 cm of monsoon rain every year so that the natural forest flourishes in this region, which attracts tourists from outside the state.
Saputara, is Gujarat’s only hill station, is situated at an altitude of about 3,000 feet above sea level. Saputara has been developed by Gujarat Tourism as a planned hill station offering facilities like guesthouse, gardens, swimming pool, boat club, auditorium, rope way and museum.
