From Gujarat. about 35,000 bank officers and clerks are set to join 7 lakh bank officers and employees across India in a nationwide strike on September 2 to protest against the “anti-worker labour reforms” in the sector.
Clearing of total Rs 1,500 crore will be affected in Gujarat, said Maha Gujarat Bank Employees Association (MBEA). MBEA said all trade unions will assemble at Apna Bazar Circle in Ahmedabad in the morning and later submit a memorandum of their demands to the Labour Commissioner to media.
MBEA called today’s strike as a “total success”, as clearing worth Rs 1,500 crore across the state was stuck up due to strike. Private sector banks continued their operations normally.
