587 commandos of National Security Guard, India’s Special Force Capable of Swiftly and Effectively Combating Terrorism, under RRU-NSG Educational Partnership MoU of 2021, were awarded Diploma in Commando Conversion Course in Counter-Terrorism on Sunday, 17 July 2022, Manesar
Shri Ajay Kumar Misra, Minister of Home (State), Government of India, awarded the Diplomas to NSG Commandos in a ceremony physically held at NSG HQ in Manesar, near Delhi. NSG commando and personnel across the country witnessed the ceremony physically or through live streaming. Hailing the partnership, Minister Shri Misra encouraged all NSG personnel to benefit from the courses offered by the RRU that would directly contribute to their overall knowledge capacity building mission, in line with the goal of the Capacity-Building Commission of India.
Minister Shri Misra was briefed by the NSG and RRU on RRU-NSG collaboration on the first of its kind National Improvised Explosive Device Data Management Software (NIDMS) with the National Bomb Data Center of NSG. Appreciating and supporting the initiative, Minister Shri Misra expressed hope that this advanced partnership will help the country in preventing, reducing, controlling and eliminating the menace of terrorism and contribute to the national security and safety. Minister Shri Misra also emphasized the imperative for our forces to gainfully exploit the technological advancements towards training and preparing the forces involved in Counter-IED and Counter-Terrorism. Minister Shri Misra outlined how the vision of the Hon’ble Prime Minister, is ably implemented by Shri Amit Shah, Union Home Minister and the Ministry of Home Affairs towards making India safe, secure and prosperous.
2782 NSG personnel participating in highly advanced and operation-based training courses such as Bomb Disposal, Personal Security Officer, Tactical Driving, Unarmed Combat, Hostage Negotiation, CBRNe, Police Commando Capacity Building and Anti-Drone Training will further benefit by the RRU-NSG collaboration.
Shri M. A. Ganpathy, IPS, Director-General, National Security Guard, congratulated the awardees and underlined the importance of deeper educational, research and training collaboration between RRU and the NSG. Releasing The BOMBSHELL, volume XXXII – 2022, NSG Magazine, DG Ganpathy informed the audience how the work of the NSG gives insights into the IED threats to India and what are the counter-IED options and strategies that are available to mitigate the same.
Professor (Dr) Bimal N. Patel, Vice-Chancellor, Rashtriya Raksha University, expressing deep satisfaction on the educational contribution to the cause of national security and police through the NSG platform, outlined further areas of collaboration. He assured the audience that RRU, an Institution of National Importance, established by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, through advanced and standard training, research, educational and extension programs is reaching out to all security forces of the country and actively contributing to the cause of India in the field of security and police globally through the Ministry of External Affairs ITEC program. Pursuing the vision of Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister and supported by Shri Amit Shah, Hon’ble Union Home Minister and the Ministry of Home Affairs, RRU is preparing and providing educational and training platform to youth, especially rural and semi-urban youth to join security and police forces, providing continuous skills programs to in-service personnel and skills enhancement programs for retired servicemen and women.
