Rajkot: Dalit family try to commit suicide over land dispute with government
Today in Rajkot, over issue dispute on land at New Race Course on 150 feet Ring Road , 6 persons were detained by police.
In Raiyad village, 20 persons are affected with the land deal, as per affected land owner Mahesh Parmar, government intends to sell the land to a private company in the name of Race Course and for making Swaminarayan temple.
The land is owned by Government but local people had a possession with them on the land. Parmar family try to end up themselves by pouring kerosene on them. Government had assured to provide them with the land but when multiple attempts to pursue the matter with collector, frustrated family tried to commit suicide.
Owner’s fore fathers have been cultivating the land for past 60 years, said present land owners who possess 8 acres of land.
