Two days back Jamnagar, Junagadh, Rajkot and other areas of Saurashtra received heavy rainfall of up to 22 inches in a single day, creating flood-like situation in many villages. The deluge wrecked many houses and at some places people’s homes were filled with water up to five feet. Household articles, cooking utensils and grains etc. have been damaged. Many animals have also died and crops ruined.
Considering the seriousness of the situation, Pujya Morari Bapu has expressed deep concern at the critical situation and extended sympathies for the affected. He has taken information about the affected areas of Saurashtra and announced an assistance of Rs. 25 lakhs from Shri Chitrakut Dham Trust, Talgajarda to the Chief Minister’s Relief fund of the state of Gujarat. Soon this amount will be deposited in the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund CMRF by the trust.
Saurashtra has been lashed by heavy rains since the beginning of the month. The torrent over the last three day had left more than 200 people stranded who were rescued. Another 7,000 people have been shifted to safer places.
The famous exponent of Ramayana, Morari Bapu, also commended Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel’s visit to the affected areas while announcing the flood assistance.
