Pre Monsoon related meeting by Gujarat government

Rain post entry in Saurashtra and South Gujarat, heavy rains have now shifted to North Gujarat today. Several surrounding areas experienced heavy rains. Districts including Vadodara, Panchmahal, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Banaskantha, Chhotaudepur, Mehsana, and Junagadh also received heavy rainfall. 88 districts in the state experienced significant rainfall. Vadodara received 1 inch of rain in half an hour, due to which there was waterlogging in certain low lying areas. In Banaskantha, district rain lashed in Akoli, Shihor, Danta, and Arniwada.
The highest precipitation of 4.25 inches was recorded in Visavadar of Junagadh district, followed by 2.75 inches in Desar (Vadodara), 2.25 inches in Kheda, 2.25 inches in Kalol (Panchmahal), and 1 inch in Padra (Vadodara). Also, 2 inches of rain fell in Diyodar, Banaskantha, and 1.8 inches in Saraswati, Patan. Heavy rains lashed rural areas of Dhari in Amreli. Post heavy rains, Khodiyar Dam received a large influx of water, causing the Shetrunji River to overflow. As per IMD Indian Meteorological Department forecast, heavy rains with strong winds and lightning are likely in the state for next 5 days. Yellow alert for rain has been sounded for 3 days. NDRF teams have been deployed in Gir-Somnath, Bhavnagar, Dwarka, and Narmada. Meeting of state weather-watch group, held at State Emergency Operation Center SEOC in Gandhinagar, the relief commissioner said that the state government is fully prepared to handle any situation arising during the monsoon season.
