The report came within 72 hours and report has been confirmed to be Omicron.
The first case of Omicron virus has been reported in Jamnagar. Coron patient’s report of a person arrived from Africa has been found positive report has been confirmed to be Omicron variant. Samples were sent to a lab in Pune to test whether it contained an Omicron variant. It is to be mentioned that the system had quarantined 11 members who came in contact with the elderly patient. Omicron variant originated from Zimbabwe. People coming to the city from abroad are being tested in different ways. They are tested and quarantined. It is important to note that 220 tourists from abroad came to Gujarat in 4 districts last Monday-Tuesday after the central government announced guidelines regarding Omicron variants. As on Thursday afternoon, more than 2,235 tourists from abroad, including 14 High risk countries, landed in a single day, including 2,228 tourists from Ahmedabad and Surat International Airport. Reports of RTPCR tests at the airports of 254 tourists from High risk countries, including Zimbabwe, have come negative. However everyone has to stay quarantined at home. The district collector will have to monitor the situation.
