Sell of Panipuri has been banned in Vadodara considering widespread health and epidemic problems due to water borne diseases.
In last one month Following 18,000 cases of gastro entities and 34 cases of jaundice registered in the city, health department of VMC Vadodara Municipal Corporation decided to ban sell of Panipuri.
After raid at Pani puri vendors, Harmful Stock of raw material used in making of pani puri like grams,pani puri, pulp of meshed potato or spicy water of Pani puri was destroyed by health team.
VMC team raided at Hujrat Paga, Hathikhana, Tulsiwadi, Sama, Chhani, Khodiyarnagar, Navayard, Warasiya, Sudamanagar and other areas. Around 50 units were checked in the area. Around 4,000kg puri, 3500 kg of grams and 20 kg of oil was destroyed.
As per health officer water used in Pani puri is unhygienic which leads to diseases.
Panipuri is a hot topic among women in Vadodara.
