New guidelines for PMJAY affiliated hospitals for cardiovascular, cardiology procedures ; meeting by Health Minister

Today in Gujarat state capital Gandhinagar a review meeting of the PMJAY scheme was held led by state Health Minister Rushikesh Patel. Minister sought detailed information about the entire operation and management of the PMJAY scheme, from pre-authorization to claim approval.Minister Patel clearly stated that under the PMJAY scheme, any malpractice involving any doctors or hospitals endangering human life in the name of emergency treatment will not be tolerated at any cost. Firm and exemplary action will be taken against those engaged in such activities.Present structure, management, and operation of the PMJAY scheme have been made more effective and efficient to ensure that no major or minor errors are left in the system.The Minister further informed that new guidelines will be issued for empaneled hospitals pertaining to cardiovascular care, cardiology, pediatrics, radiology, and chemotherapy.

SAFU State Anti-Fraud Unit will be strengthened, and a new team will be formed to visit hospitals. Reports after hospital visits will be compiled. Amendments will be made to the triggers as per state requirements, in consultation with NAFU National Anti-Fraud Unit.Check on quality of stents and implants used in various procedures will be made. CD of CAG the Angiography  and PTCA Angioplasty procedures must be uploaded to the mandatory on the portal. Software for uploading CDs is in final stages and will be made operational soon.MonthlyAudit visits to at least two will be made by the Chief District Health Officer/Medical Officer of Health Department. Hospitals will be evaluated and rewarded based on their performance. For treatments from PMJAY-affiliated hospitals, consent of patients relatives must be taken via Audio-Video medium after a detailed explanation of the treatment.
