World over countries are not yet able to curb and combat Covid infection and making heavy losses of life ,business and property.
India has 3,62,727 Covid cases with 11017 cases of Covid in Gujarat alone as per latest figures. Out of Indian population 3.73 crore people have been vaccinated by the government.
Amid such a Coronavirus pandemic, in Ahmedabad Civil Hospital there were 105 cases of Mucormycosis before 2 days, but health authorities were on run when 86 new cases of Mucormycosis were reported. With this, Two more wards in Civil Hospital have been operational in addition to existing two wards. Fifth ward may also be started. In Ahmedabad there are 191 patients of Mucormycosis.
Patients from Rajkot, Jamnagar and Bhavnagar of Mucormycosis were reported. 8 patients reported in Gandhinagar Civil Hospital and 22 in Mehsana. In rajkot there are 200 cases of Mucormycosis and ward with 500 beds will be started.
Recently, Corona infected patients with low immunity and other types of serious diseases such as diabetes or kidney and cancer, is the most common cause of Mucormycosis disease.
Previously the disease was prevalent in patients with serious illnesses such as cancer or kidney disease. But at present patients with diabetes, especially after Corona or post Covid, are more likely to get sinus or fungal infections, eventually resulting in Mucormycosis.
Treatment of Mucormycosis is possible so there is no need to worry about it but caution is needed.
