Today in Mehsana, while cremation of Mayur Patel Patidar youth who died after injury of bullet during Police firing in Ahmedabad Rally, when procession of Mayur Patel reached from Modhera to Toranwadi Chowk unknown people started throwing stones on Mehsana BJP office. Also stone throwing on Police van in Toranwadi chowk was done. Mayur Patel was cremated at Hindu Smashan Bhumi, as per sources.
Mehsana Visnagar will observe bandh following death of another Patidar member who succumbed to death while treatment in Ahmedabad and injuries during police firing at a rally on August 26 this year. Mayur Patel, 22, suffered injuries to his spine after he was hit by a bullet. As per PAAS leader “Mayur was admitted to a private hospital and his condition was critical. He succumbed to injuries on Friday. He is the 10th Patidar who died due to police atrocities and we want a murder case registered against concerned police officials.” The funeral procession will be held in Mehsana today. Mehsana SP has ordered deployment of more staff ahead of the funeral to ensure there is no law and order issue. Meanwhile, demanding release of quota movement leader Hardik Patel and other jailed agitators, two members of Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS), have started an indefinite hunger strike at their respective homes in the city and in Surat. PAAS member of Ahmedabad and a prominent female face of quota agitation Reshma Patel, a resident of Vejalpur area, is on an indefinite hunger strike since December 21, when PAAS members their launched state wide agitation demanding release of the jailed leaders and withdrawal of sedition cases against Hardik and six other PAAS leaders.
