Ahmedabad Congress MLA Imran Khedawala from Jamalpur area Khadia appealed to the state government to protect industries. “Imran Khedawala told on Ahmedabad that Manchester title has been eradicated from Ahmedabad. During ongoing Budget Session MLA Khedawala raised an issue in Gujarat Legislative Assembly regarding about sick small textile industries of Ahmedabad.
Khedawala had earlier said in start of assembly that at Once upon a time, Ahmedabad East was known as a Manchester but today the situation is such that more than 3,000 small textile industries in Ahmedabad have died. Unemployed textile artisans have become drug addict. Some of them have committed suicide. The situation is that the cities of Pakistan and Bangladesh are ahead of cities of Gujarat in the textile industry added MLA Khedawala.
