Lord Ganesh Immersion in Ahmedabad today
Today being Anant Chaudash which marks end of 10 days long Ganesh Chaturthi festival and citizens would bid grand farewell to Lord Ganesh amid pomp and festivities by taking out procession in Ahmedabad.
Civic authorities of AMC Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation have geared up for the mega event and have earmarked zones for immersion to prevent any untoward incident from taking place.
AMC has arranged nearly 30 heavy cranes to facilitate lord Ganesh immersion. AMC has built artificial ponds at Sabarmati Riverfront bank for people to immerse Ganesh Idol. Security has been tightened at the Riverfront.
In wake of Ganesh Idol immersion and traffic due to immersion ceremony at Sabarmati River, city police have closed 3 road stretches.
According to the notification, vehicular traffic apart from trucks carrying idols would be stopped from Geeta Mandir to Paldi, Geeta Mandir to Kalupur railway station and Kalupur railway station to Town Hall from 2 pm owards .
Alternative routes have been earmarked for the commuters, said traffic police officials.
In other cities of India, people either immerse lord Ganesh into pond, lake or sea.
In Mumbai, at Girgaon Chopati, Mahim and Dadar people rush for lord Ganesh immersion.
People in Thane go to lake for lord Ganesh immersion.
