Lok Sabha adjourned till afternoon over protest by opposition

Today on day 3 of winter session of parliament in a  debate over the demonetization problem and noisy disruptions. Earlier on Thursday, the Congress-led opposition had launched a relentless attack on the ruling dispensation leading to disruptions in both Houses of Parliament.

After harsh debate by Anand Sharma,Mapanna Mallikarjun Kharge of Congress slammed government. Lok Sabha was adjourned till afternoon.

This was in sharp contrast to the peaceful discussion on the first day of the session. Meanwhile, commenting on the future benefits of demonetisation, Venkaiah Naidu said the move is a required surgery for a better India. Decision will benefit people in the long run, dishonest will fall in line.

The opposition parties had refused to allow Rajya Sabha to function unless the Prime Minister responds to their questions on the currency move that “has caused hardship to the common man”. The Lok Sabha also witnessed disruptions, with the opposition demanding a discussion under a rule that mandates voting.

The government, however, refused to make any commitment on whether the Prime Minister would speak on Friday; he stayed away from Rajya Sabha on Thursday even though it was the Prime Minister’s question day in the upper house.
