Local Body elections term will expire in the month of November including Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Jamnagar Municipal Corporations and in 231 Taluka Panchayats and in 31 District Panchayats. It has been decided to postpone the elections in Gujarat. The elections will be held in the near future after reviewing the situation.
Today Gujarat election board said in a press release that the state has 6 municipal corporations, 55 municipalities, 31 districts and 231 taluka panchayats as the election term expires in November, elections were to be held. However, the state Election Commission has issued a notification to postpone the elections for next three months, citing the prevalence of local body elections and Covid-19 epidemic. The situation will be reviewed after three months and a decision will be taken later.
