In Ahmedabad, one 54-years-old Bhupendrasinh Rao, resident of Nava Vadaj area was admitted to Ahmedabad Civil Hospital for treatment after his wife underwent a liver transplant. Bhupendrasinh Rao’s liver was transplanted into another patient after he was declared Brain Dead yesterday. Bhupendrasinh Rao’s wife Agnesh Rao is undergoing treatment at Coronavirus. When Rao’s wife learned of her husband’s death, she set an example of humanity by agreeing to transplant her husband’s Liver into another needy patient.

Civil Superintendent Dr JP Modi says that organs of brain dead patients can be used by other patients. Organ donation is done for the purpose of rejuvenating other needy patients. For this, relatives of the braindead patients in our hospital are urged by giving accurate information about organ donation. Apnea tests are performed on patients with a GCS (Glasgow Coma Scale) score below five, as per government guidelines. Organ donation is then prepared by counseling the relative. State level convener of SOTTO Dr Pranjal Modi says that SOTTO is a state level organization. NOTTO (National Organ And Tissue Transplant Organisation) has been commissioned by Central Government in 2014 with its headquarters in Delhi. Under which a total of 13 SOTTOs have been functioning all over India.
