KCEIL Hosts UNCAGED: A Celebration of Hip-Hop and Empowerment at Karnavati University

Karnavati University, October02, 2024– Karnavati Center for Experiential and Immersive Learning (KCEIL), Karnavati University, recently hosted UNCAGED, an inspiring two-night event, dedicated to the vibrant world of hip-hop and rap. This exceptional showcase featured the talented artists of The Dharavi Dream Project (TDDP), including the renowned MC Heam and the innovative collective Leave No Fingerprints.

The Dharavi Dream Project has been a beacon of hope and creativity in Dharavi, Asia’s largest ghetto, for the past decade. As a movement where music acts as a healer, TDDP supports and elevates under-resourced hip-hop talent, providing a unique space where knowledge is accessible and financial barriers are dismantled.

KCEIL brought TDDP to Karnavati University, transforming this event into an enriching learning experience rather than just a performance. The young artists from TDDP, overwhelmed with excitement, shared their first-time experiences traveling in an air-conditioned train compartment, highlighting the privilege and opportunities that many take for granted.

The university students were deeply moved by the stories and struggles of their peers from Dharavi, sparking an incredible sense of empathy and solidarity. Many students expressed their support through anonymous gifts, aimed at fostering the future of these emerging talents.

On the second night, MC Heam graced the stage, serving as both a mentor and a source of inspiration. His journey to success resonated with attendees, leaving them captivated by his powerful music and motivating words.

Leave No Fingerprints, an experiential design collective from Ahmedabad, contributed to the dynamic atmosphere with over 15-20 talented rappers performing throughout the night. Each artist received guidance from MC Heam, who provided invaluable insights to help them hone their craft.

Overall, UNCAGED was not just an event; it was a transformative experience where diverse talents united in celebration and support. Students from Karnavati University were left inspired and enlightened, recognizing the incredible resilience required to pursue dreams against all odds.

“Our center KCEIL is dedicated exclusively to ensure that the students of our University understand the importance of social change. Such interactions are important as it allows students to be curious, and collaborate with artists from all walks of life and in the process there is an exchange of knowledge, love and empathy,” said Ritesh Hada, President, Karnavati University.
