Kathmandu Bus accident kills 17; Bus falls in gorge

A Bus returning from Nepal met with an accident near Kathmandu with 40 passengers onboard. The accident took place when driver lost control over bus and it fell into 200 meter deep gorge. 17 passengers were killed out of 14 passengers were killed on the spot whereas 3 died during treatment. 21 passengers have been injured. 17 passengers killed were from Surendranagar district mostly from Vadhvan and Kharva. 1 out of 3 buses met with an accident. Ill fated bus was from Shree Hari Travels of Dhaghadhra with RTO No GH 14 MH 9990 with Amreli passing. All passengers had gone on Char Dham Yatra lasting for 2 months. The yatra started on 22nd March.

Control room in Nepal Office has been set up. Gujarat CM has expressed condolences to ill fated passengers. Gujarat govt has talked to Nepal office and tried to seek more information about passengers traveling in the bus.

In New Delhi passenger of bus accident can dial Helpline number 011-46278700 with extension 9 for help from Gujarat govt with Resident Commissioner Ofice at Gujarat Bhavan. Gujarat CM has announced ex-gratia payment of Rs 4 lakhs to the deceased’s  family from Chief Minister’s fund.
