Ahmedabad: Kankaria Carnival was not held for last 3 years due to coronavirus epidemic. Once again Kankaria Carnival will be organized from 25th to 31st December. Various programs will be held on the theme of Azadi Ka Amrit Mohotsav during 5 days. It has been decided by civic authority not to display fireworks on 31st December.
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel will formally open the carnival. On final day of event, December 31, a program will be organized on the theme of Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat. AMC Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation will spend an amount of approximately Rs 4 crores for organizing the carnival. It is noted that Kankaria Carnival was started from year 2008-09 at Kankaria Lakefront in Ahmedabad city by the then Chief Minister and current Prime Minister Narendra. Last time carnival was held in the year-2019, after 3 years, preparations have started from Ahmedabad municipal administration to hold Kankaria Carnival once again.
Deputy Municipal Commissioner CR Kharsan said that 3 stages will be prepared for carnival organized at Lakefront. Apart from Pushpakkunj, the stage will be kept at 3 places namely Balwatika and Gymnasium Vidyalaya. Where various cultural programs will be organized daily. Kankaria Carnival attracts more than 25 lakh visitors every year during 25th to 31st December.
