Ahmedabad, 5 th December, 2019: In a bid to safeguard the interest of jewellery buyers, the central government has made hallmarking of gold jewellery mandatory from January 15, 2020. The industry has welcomed the provision saying it will benefit customers as well as jewellers. However, many jewellers are already not just dealing in only 100% hallmarked jewellery, but are going a step further.
For instance, Ahmedabad-based Jewel Plus, a high-street brand known for its exquisitely crafted fine jewellery, has become the first jeweller in Gujarat to offer fully certified Polki jewellery. “Without certification customers do not know if the quality they are being delivered is the same as what they are being promised, but this is not how we do business. We believe in 100% transparency, and this is the reason why every piece of jewellery that we sell, be it plain gold, diamond-studded, or Polki jewellery is certified,” Amar Patel, Business Development Manager at Facets Lifestyle Pvt. Ltd., which owns the Jewel Plus brand, said.
We have set a new benchmark by becoming the first jeweller in Gujarat, and one of the few in the country, to offer 100% certified Polki jewellery under the collection name “Adaa”. This collection presents a unique style of fusion Polki jewellery which is a mix of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary designs. This one-of-a-kind and rare collection is inspired by the colours of Rajasthan and showcases the aesthetic charm and grace of royal jewellery,”
This is yet another testament to our commitment to trust, transparency, and authenticity “he stressed. Another city-based jeweller also said that the decision to make gold hallmarking mandatory will benefit jewellers as it will lead the industry to adhere to a certain quality standard.
“The jeweller ‘s selling hallmarked Gold & certified Diamonds will ensure customers faith & loyalty & also will increase the sale of gold & Diamond jewellery in long run, which will benefit the industry as a whole. Even smaller
jewellers, who have been losing business in recent years, will gain,” the jeweller said.
