Jal Yatra in Ahmedabad kicks off Rath Yatra festivities. Ahead of 143rd Rath Yatra on June 23, devotees will carry pots on their and traditionally start Jal Yatra from Jagannath Temple in Jamalpur to Sabarmati river.
Normally Jal Yatra start early morning from Lord Jagannath temple in Jamalpur to Sabarmati riverfront and returns to the temple with hundreds of devotees and a grand procession including elephants and colorful flags.
In wake of Covid-19 outbreak in Gujarat and Ahmedabad being red zone, on 5th June Jal Yatra will be carried out with only one elephant and seven devotees who will perform an anointing of holy water on Lord Jagannath.
This year Rath Yatra in Ahmedabad falls on 23rd June. Decision about how to hold Rath Yatra 2020 in Ahmedabad will be taken after meeting on 30th May.
