INDIAN COAST GUARD CONDUCTS REGIONAL POLLUTION RESPONSE EXERCISE-2024 OFF VADINAR

Ahmedabad Wednesday, 16 October 2024, The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Regional Headquarters (North West) organised  a three day Regional Level Pollution Response Exercise at Vadinar  from 14-16 October 2024. The exercise was aimed at enhancing preparedness and co-ordination skills amongst stakeholders for ensuring seamless marine pollution response, towards protection of India’s Maritime environment.

The event involved comprehensive activities such as brain storming sessions, table top exercises, shore-line clean-up and a live Pollution Response demonstration at sea in Gulf of Kutch which highlighted ICG’s operational readiness in managing pollution incidents. Representatives from various Oil-Handling Agencies, State Administration and Response Organizations were amongst the notable participants.

The exercise focused on both strategic and tactical response to potential Oil Spills with emphasis on real-time collaboration, resource mobilisation and use of advanced Pollution Response equipment. The involvement of key maritime industries further reinforced ICG’s efforts towards enhancing inter-agency synergy and ensuring swift action in case of Marine Pollution incidents in the Region.

This exercise is part of the ICG’s ongoing commitment to safeguarding the Marine environment and ensuring the sustainability of India’s Coastal and Maritime resources. The Indian Coast Guard remains committed to protecting the country’s Maritime interests and ensuring a pollution-free Marine ecosystem.
