In morning Rahane and Pujara took captured the innings with their 118-run stand and KL Rahul’s crucial innings of 90 and 51, respectively.
Ashwin gave the best spell of 6-41, but Umesh Yadav was just as important through the middle to get Smith and Shaun Marsh, Ishant kicked things off by bagging Renshaw, and Jadeja provided threat and control.
Series was levelled at 1-1 with two Tests to play.
No one could offer much resist in the Australian innings. Smith top-scored in the second innings with 28, Handscomb made 24 and was only out slogging for runs when hope was all but gone, but the rest couldn’t hack it. Seven single-figure scores out of 11, and a final collapse of 6 for 11. That after ending their first innings with 4 for 7, though there were some good performances there with Shaun Marsh’s 66, Renshaw’s 60 and Wade’s 40.
