Ahmedabad recorded 28 Coronavirus cases in last 24 hours — a rise of 40% from day before. On November 16, the city had recorded 20 cases.
The city has identified 4 micro-containment zones in the past one week . On November 11, AMC Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation had identified one micro-containment zone in a residential society in South Zone. The colony has a population of 85. The corporation, a day after, identified another micro-containment area in West Zone, where around 76 people have been quarantined. In the following 4 days, 2 more containment zones were identified and the residents of those areas were quarantined.
After Diwali festival, Ahmedabad has been seeing a surge in Covid cases. Bhavin Solanki, Medical Officer of Health, AMC, said, “We have increased testing capacity and that is why the spike can be seen.” Solanki said the rise in cases were recorded following Navratri and Diwali in the city. “We are conducting contact-tracing on war-footing. The cases so far are mild in nature and no hospitalisation so far has been required,” Solanki added. On November 14 and 15, the city recorded 11 and 15 cases respectively. Till now, Ahmedabad has recorded a total of 2,29,148 cases and 3,411.
The numbers, as per experts, are likely to be six times higher than what is being released in public domain by the government and the municipality region.
