Today a big illegal sex determination racket has been caught in Rajkot. Raid has been made by police based on Health Officer Pankaj Rathore’s RMC Rajkot Municipal Corporation complaint that fetal tests were being carried out in a rented house in Shivshakti Colony behind BT Savani Hospital on University Road in the city. Doctor and the compounder took advantage of night curfew to conduct pregnancy test only at night.
Rajkot police raided house number 204 of Shivshakti Society in the city on the basis of information of fetal examination in which Dr. Mukesh Tolia, compounder Avesh Pinjara and a lady who had come for fetal examination were arrested. The doctor rented house to run the business and only performed fetal tests at night. Doctor used a portable Sonography machine for test and charged a handsome fees for the test.
Important thing is that even locals were not aware to such scandals. Police have arrested three persons and conducting intensive interrogation of the doctor and compounder. The duo has so far tested fetuses of how many ladies and trying to find out who else is involved in the scandal.
Police inquiries have revealed names of other people involved in the racket. Police convoy was also rushed to the spot. Police have registered a case and conducting further investigations. It is learned that Rs 10,000 was charged for a fetal test and the machine from which Sonography was performed was brought from Nepal. The woman who was caught during the raid has five daughters and had come fr fetal test to the doctor Tolia. Police inquiries may reveal names of other people involved in the racket. Neighbours in the society were frightened with the incident happening silently.
