On October 5, 2018, a day long Workshop on Journalism and Social Media was organised by High Commissioner of Canada in New Delhi.
Objective of the workshop was to have a brainstorming session on impact of Social Media on Journalism, various trends and transformations and related aspects.
The Workshop was graced by High Commissioner of Canada in India Nadir Patel and Counsellor & Head, Advocacy Program Matt Friesen.
High Commissioner of Canada to India Nadir Patel gave his speech emphasizing on power of media, its outreach and trend. Deputy High Commissioner Soyoung Park also addressed the participants.
There were Interactive Sessions by invited media professionals on How does citizen journalism change traditional reporting? (by Ms Maha Siddiqui Associate Editor-Anchor, CNN News 18) , Social media platforms and innovative strategies? (by Ms Mahek Kasbekar Deputy Editor, Brut India), What to believe, what not to believe (by P Surin Senior Editor- UC News) and The nature of social media – is it social or personal? (by Deepak Dash Senior Assistant Editor, Times of India) with shortlisted panelists.
Thirteen Panelists were PV Iyer Executive Editor, The Indian Express,Ms Ritu Kapur Co-founder, The Quint, TK Arun Editor, Opinion, The Economic Times, Ravi Shankar Executive Editor, The New Indian Express, Jayanta Roy Chowdhury Senior Editor, The Telegraph Ms Amrita Tripathi Head- News Partnership, Twitter India, Ms Pallavi Ghosh Executive Editor, CNN-IBN, Prasad Sanyal Group Editor, Zee Digital, Sanjay Singh Senior Editor, Firstpost,Ms Priyanka Tikoo Deputy Executive Editor, PTI, Ms Anubha Bhosle Executive Editor, CNN IBN, Brijesh Pandey Senior Editor, NewsX and J Gopikrishnan Senior Editor, The Pioneer.
Some participants were rewarded for Live Tweets of the workshop. Certificates were presented them with Certificates.
