Gujarat-Vietnam to build Sister-City relationship; discuss mutually beneficial business opportunities

Vietnam is eager to learn from Gujarat in the field of digital transformation and energy generation .In recent years there has been an increase in people-to-people contact between Gujarat and Vietnam and number of Gujaratis visiting Vietnam has also increased .Courtesy visit of Ambassador of Vietnam to India Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hai to Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel in Gandhinagar. During the courtesy call meeting, he expressed readiness for partnership with Gujarat in renewable energy and green hydrogen and mining and steel sectors. Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel gave a positive response to the necessary support of the state government in this regard and said that state government is eager to take existing mutual trade and commerce cooperation between Gujarat and Vietnam forward more rapidly. CM Patel welcomed the ambassador of Vietnam on his first visit to Gujarat and also said that he should visit tourist places, Statue of Unity and important religious places of Gujarat at his convenience.

During the discussion of this courtesy visit meeting in presence of Industries Minister BalwantSinh Rajput, Ambassador of Vietnam Mr. Yut Nguyen Thanh Hai also gave detailed information about huge export potential of cotton, dry onion, dry garlic and seafood from Gujarat to Vietnam. The meeting also discussed the fact that increase in people-to-people contact between Gujarat and Vietnam in the past few years has led to more tourists from Gujarat visiting Vietnam.

During the discussion, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Vietnam’s ambassador to India also emphasized on making this people-to-people contact more extensive in future. Vietnam Ambassador said that Vietnam can learn a lot from Gujarat’s achievements in digital transformation and energy generation sector. He also proposed in this courtesy call meeting the direction of thinking for a Sister City relationship between Gujarat-Vietnam. CM Patel said in this meeting that there is such an ease of doing business environment in Gujarat that once the countries that participate in trade and industry with Gujarat do not go anywhere except Gujarat.

The Vietnamese ambassador also supported matter by praising the comprehensive development of the state. Chief Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Kailashnathan, Additional Chief Secretary of Industries Department Kamal Dayani, Industries Commissioner Rahul Gupta and Consul of Vietnam Saurin Shah were present in the courtesy meeting.
