Today Pankaj Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue Department,Gujarat said that state government has been working in a timely manner with zero casualty approach and effective action is being taken against the existing cyclone Tauktae in state. As a part of which more than one lakh citizens have been shifted to safer places from 655 villages eligible for relocation in 17 coastal districts which are likely to be affected. The evacuation operation lasted till late night and has been resumed from 5.00 am today.
He added that as a result of impact of the cyclone, a rainy environment has been created in the state and light to moderate rainfall has been recorded in 84 talukas of 21 districts from yesterday 6.00 am till today 6.00 am. Out of them 6 talukas have received 1 inch rainfall. To deal with damage caused by the Cyclone, state government has deployed 240 teams from forest departments and 242 teams from the building department which are working to restore the roads blocked by other trees including roads.
He added that in case of power outage due to strong winds or other reasons in the affected districts, 661 teams have been deployed by the energy department which is working round the clock. The power supply has been restored by resolving more than 400 of 750 power breakup issues. Similarly, for the purpose of providing health oriented treatment to the citizens, 388 teams of health department and teams of 319 revenue officers have been deployed for these areas to take immediate action. In order to meet the condition of Covid in state, 1383 power backups have been kept up. Not only that, 161 ICU ambulances and 576-108 ambulances have been made stand-by to provide emergency treatment to citizens in these affected areas. 35 green corridors have been created to meet oxygen needs of the patients undergoing Covid treatment and to facilitate the transportion of oxygen.

He said that 41 teams of NDRF have been involved in management of respective districts for relief and rescue. While 10 teams of SDRF have been deployed. In case of flooding in low lying areas due to rains due to hurricanes, a total of 456 de-watering pumps have been prepared in the state for its disposal which will be delivered as per the requirement. 668 temporary structures that could cause damage have also been removed. 2126 Hoardings from city /town also have been removed. Considering severity of the cyclone, citizens of the area have also been appealed not to leave their homes.
