Gujarat Local Body Elections for 74 municipalities
Today voting for 75 municipalities, 2 district panchayats, 17 taluka panchayats and 1,400 village panchayats have started in Gujarat. Also, by-polls in 7 constituencies of 6 other municipalities are also being voted. Voting is done 2166 seats of 529 municipal boards in 2763 polling booths.
Polling on 52 seats remained uncontested. Fate of 6,033 candidates will be decide by voters.
Jafrabad Municipality election remained uncontested. real contest at 10 big Municipalities Jetpur, Surendranagar, Valsad, Shihor, Mangrol,Billimora,Upleta,Dhoraji and Halol in the state.
10,15,536 male and 9,94,404 female voters with a total of 19,64,940 voters to caste their votes. There are 1,793 independent candidates in fray for the elections.
530 booths have been declared vulnerable and 95 are super sensitive. For security 15,000 people have been deployed at booths.Results of local body elections will be announced on February 19, 2018.
Voting will be done from 8 am to 5 pm by voters.
