Today in Ahmedabad, Chief Justice of Gujarat High Court has filed Suo Moto Petition for misappropriation in Nitibag Society plot alloted to High Court Judges. Also notices were served to Ahmedabad Collector, Niti Cooperative Soceity, District Registrar and Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation Commissioner. District Registrar directed to appear before Court tomorrow.
Letter from former judge to Gujarat High Court has been treated as Suo Moto PIL in the case. HC has issued notices to former judges and sitting judges and demanded explanation about allotment of plaot and construction in it. State government directed to file reply about plot allotment.
Queries raised by Hourt Court bench comprising of Justice M V Sahay and Justice R P Dholaria were, how plots were alloted to cooperative society in place of individuals, and allotment to the judges who already owned houses were made.
