A Workshop on Sustainable Genetic Improvement, Utilization and Conservation of Indigenous Livestock Breeds: Conventional and Biotechnological Approaches is organised at SGVP, Gurukul, Ahmedabad during September 6-7, 2014. Today morning, Gujarat Governor Om Prakash Kohli inaugurated National Workshop for Cow Breeding in Gujarat.
Genetic improvement of livestock species in India has lacked far behind as compared to world standards. Gujarat Gauseva and Gauchar Vikas Board and Kamdheun University has taken up this challenge along with well-known Animal Geneticist of our country and Dean of the National Institute of Animal Biotechnology, to work out the National Mission for Genetic Improvement of Indigenous Breeds of Livestock of India through establishing a dialogue with various stake-holders- leaders in academia, NGOs, self-help groups and various governmental agencies.
