Today, In a breakthrough move Gujarat Government for the Patidar community, has appointed a 7 members committee. The committee will be headed by minster Nitin Patel, comprising of Gujarat ministers Ramanlal Vora (Minister of Social Justice), Bhupendrasinh Chudasama (Education Minister), Babubhai Bokhiriya (Agriculture Minister), Rajni Patel (Home Minister), Vasuben Trivedi ( Women & Child Welfare Minister), Nanubhai Vanani (Sports Minister) who will discuss the issue of reservation for the community. The committee will submit its report to government.
Patidars have been agitating in Gujarat state at various places for OBC quota in education and employment.
Some groups including Umiyadham Sidsar Patidar has declared their support, whereas Unjha’s Umiya trust has offered to mediate in the matter.
