In yesterdays’ heavy rains in Saurashtra, South Gujarat and many other parts of Gujarat, 68 people have been killed as per state administration. 87 people have been rescued.
Districtwise death toll, 26 in Amreli, 3 in Bhavnagar, 2 in Rajkot, 1 in Valsad, and 2 death in Bharuch were reported due to heavy rains and floods.
123 houses were reported to have collapsed in heavy rains and 455 animals have been drowned.
13,000 people have migrated due to flood like situation. 200 villages have becomed unreachable in the state. Power cut situation remains at many places due to hevy rains in the state.
Today meeting of Gujarat state administration under leadership of Gujarat Chief Minister Anandben Patel was held. CM made aerial survey of flood affected Saurashtra and parts of Gujarat. Relief measures of Rs 4 lakhs in case of death in flood, Rs 95,000 for 40 % loss and Rs 2000 for household material loss is likely to be announced soon.
Bagasara receives maximum rain of 800 mm, Dhari 550 mm, Gir Somnath 425 mm. Average 21.40 % rain was received in Gujarat.
Gujarat Congress President Bharatsinh Solanki said that state administration could used facility of Disaster Management for Amreli and Gir Somnath to move people to safer areas.
Shakersinh Vaghela, Congress said that Congress workers all joined hands to help people in their best possible way during this incident of natural calamity.
