Gandhinagar : July 31 With an objective of economic upliftment a program of distribution of aid to women of self-help groups called ‘Sakhi Samvad’ was held in Gandhinar in by Gujarat Chief Minister, Bhupendra Patel today. Products made by women of self-help groups from entire Gujarat were displayed in the ‘Sakhi Samvad’ program. There was good purchase of products in the exhibition. There were 33 stalls from all 33 districts of the state.Under the National Rural Livelihood Mission Scheme, women in rural areas are being made self-reliant by providing skill training to them in all the districts of the state and connecting them with various livelihood activities. With the support of Gujarat Livelihood Promotion Company under Rural Development Department, through various works including Bharat Gunthan (Fancy Embroidery Work), Sewing, Catering, Papad, Pickle, Khakhra, Ragi-Bajri-Bajrani Cookies, Mati Kalakam (Clay Work), Lace Work, Jadtaar etc, women are making livelihood through a stable income source and become self-reliant, raising their average standard of living.
Today became very important for the economic upliftment of our ladies including mothers and sisters from rural areas of Gujarat. We have disbursed Rs 350 crores financial assistance for various economic activities to more than 2.8 lakh women of 28,000 self-help groups in a ‘Sakhi Samwad’ function at Gandhinagar’s Mahatma Mandir today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has resolved to make 3 crore women of the country Lakhpati Didi. To realize this resolution, Gujarat government is committed to the economic upliftment of the women of Sakhimandal by benefiting them from various schemes,” Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel said in his speech.Experience of interacting with the sisters of the Sakhi Mandal and learning about their achievements at the Sakhi Samvad program was very heartwarming and very encouraging. CM attended questions of ladies of Sakhimandal.
