Gujarat CM Anandiben Patel gives awards to teachers on Teachers Day

Today, Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel donates on Teachers Day.

CM Anandiben Patel awarded 33 best teachers on the occasion of Teachers’ Day. CM appealed the awardee teachers to adopt a nearby primary school or aanganwide.

On the occasion of Teachers’ Day, Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel honoured 33 teachers, including 12 women teachers, from across the state. In the event organised at Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar, CM Smt. Patel gave an inspirational address to the students, parents and the entire teaching community. She also personally interacted with the students by answering their questions on various subjects like quality education, security of women, health and governance.

In her address, CM  Patel appealed the awardee teachers of secondary schools to adopt atleast one primary school in their locality. Similarly, awardee primary teachers can adopt an aanganwadi. She said that this could bring a sea of change in the education system.

Smt. Patel said that a teacher can be the true agent of change for the society and the nation. Along with education, teachers should also focus on health and hygiene of the students. Teachers should also take care of cleanliness of schools, discipline of children, quality of food consumed by students, proper dissemination of iron-folic pills to girl child, she added.

Stressing on the concept of activity-based learning, Patel said that innovative ideas and newer methods should be incorporated by teachers to make education effective and engaging for the children. She shared a few ideas how practical and non-bookish approach to learning can result in the betterment of the education system. Through activity-based education, better results can be delivered in no time and individual skills of children can be groomed effectively, she added.

Talking about the visionary approach of CM, one of the awardees,Suniti Karulkar, shared an incident when Smt. Patel was the education minister and within five minutes she had resolved a pending issue of the need for a new classroom for the school.

Talking about the importance of ‘Guruvandana’, Patel said that every child looks up to their teachers as Almighty and thus, teachers should work hard to live up to this responsibility. She urged that activities related to betterment of education should not be limited only to one day, let every day be celebrated as Teachers’ Day, she said.
