Today evening, campaigning bugle for phase 2 of civicbody polls in Gujarat have become silent. In phase 2 elections will be held in 31 districts, 230 Taluka Panchayats and 56 Nagar Palikas. More than 60,000 police force will be deployed including 87 officials of DYSP and PI level. More than 11029 constable and forest guards will be deployed. 48800 home guards will be deployed in election duties.
2485 candidates are in fray for 31 district panchayats including 987 from BJP, 985 from Congress, 301 independent and 212 others. Till now, 7 candidates have been elected incontestantly for district panchayats. For 230 taluka panchayats 11665 candidates are in fray with 4716 from BJP, 4697 from Congress, 1595 independent and 657 others. 54 candidates have been elected incontestantly for taluka panchayats.
For 56 Nagar Palikas 5296 candidates are in fray. 484 candidate withdrew their forms out of 5803 nominations. 1945 candidates from BJP, 1801 candidates from Congress, 1082 independent and 468 others are in race. 27 candidates have been elected incontestantly.
For peaceful and smooth polling in Gujarat 117 companies of SRPs with 3 women SRP teams will be deployed. 10 teams of ITBP, 20 teams of BSF, 13 teams of CRP, 4 companies of RAF will be deployed. 6 tems of RAC, 5 teams of RBWHG from other states including Maharashtra and MP will be used in election duties, with a total of 193 security teams in Gujarat election duties in phase 2.
For 40 seats of Surat district panchayat, 100 candidates are i race/ for 9 taluka panchayat on 196 seats 468 candidates are in race. More than 9 lakh voters will give their votes at 1123 polling booths.
In Surat district polling of Bardoli, Sachin and Kadodara Nagar Palika will also be held.
