Gujarat Board cancels Standard 12 Exams says Bhupendrasinh Chudasama

The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) has cancelled the class 12 board examination, announced state education minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama. This came following the Modi government’s decision to cancel the CBSE board exams this year in wake of the Covid-19 pandemic situation. The CISCE has also cancelled the class 12 exams.


For the class SSC 10 board exams in Gujarat, CM Vijay Rupani had declared that mass promotion will be granted to all the students. He had tweeted on his official Twitter handle, dated May 13, that the decision was taken in view of the current situation. “An important decision was taken today in the wider interest of the students of Std-10 SSC of the state. Considering the current state of transition of corona, the decision to give adequate mass promotion to regular students in Std-10 SSC this year was taken in the core committee meeting held today,” he had tweeted. Not just class 10, mass promotion was also granted to class 9 and 11 students as well.

Today a cabinet meeting was held under the chairmanship of Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani. In the meeting, it has been decided to cancel the standard 12 board examination. Apart from this, Rupani government of the state has also taken a big decision regarding the new academic session starting from 7 June 2021.

It has been decided that new academic session will start Online. State Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama said in a press conference that Online meeting was organized on May 23 in the presence of 4 senior ministers of central government to take decision of standard 12 board examination. In which senior education ministers of India were present.

Yesterday Prime Minister Narendra Modi decided to cancel standard 12 bpard examination, an issue which was discussed in the cabinet meeting held today regarding on decision taken by PM. Gujarat Board has decided to cancel the standard 12 examination. We will decide according to the guideline of center. We will now decide on the issue of standard 12 and 10 repeater examination.

The new session, which starts on June 7, it will be Online. On the other hand, BJP leader announced cancellation of board exam even before any official announcement was made by the government today. Veteran BJP leader and former president of Youth Rutvij Patel has tweeted about the Standard-12 exam. He said in a tweet that state government had decided to cancel the Standard-12 board exam, showing sensitivity towards health of students as per the current circumstances of Corona.

He also thanked Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasman for the decision in a tweet. However, due to the controversy over this issue, Dr. Rutvij Patel had now deleted the tweet. Notably, CBSE Standard 12 board exam has been cancelled. Prime Minister Modi’s high-level meeting has decided to cancel the exam.

In view of precarious situation caused by COVID and the response received from various appointees, it was decided that standard 12 board examinations would not be held this year. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the decision regarding standard 12 CBSE examinations was taken in the interest of students. He said COVID-19 has affected the academic calendar and issue of board exams is causing great concern among students, parents and teachers.
